It’s spring season! If you are looking for the best time to make home repairs, this is it. The sunny weather days make it easier for the paint to dry. So we have compiled some of the best tips to paint your house like a pro.

Inspect the area.

Before applying paint, make sure you make a thorough visual inspection and preparation of the area where you want to re-painting. Find any cracked, flaking, or peeling areas and sand them. The reason behind this is that the weight of the new coat will pull the old paint loose. So you will just end up wasting your time and money if you don’t tackle this first.

Use high-quality brushes, roller covers, and painter’s tape.

If you’re splurging on a great paint, you definitely do not want to pinch pennies on the application. Good brushes and roller covers will give you an excellent coverage and finish project. Sometimes, investing in the right materials is better than trying  to use cheap painting materials.

Protect anything you don’t want painted.

If you are painting the ceiling or the walls, you need to cover up the lower portion of your house including furniture that you don’t want to get painted. Drop cloths are absolutely a must. You can also use garbage bags or sandwich bags and secure them with tapes on the intended area in order to protect them from excess paints that usually drop during application.

Choose a neutral paint.

The safest choice for painting is neutral especially if you are kind of minimalist or you want a totally flexible home. However, you may also go for bright paints depending on the mood that you want to create. Even so dark colors will also be suitable for moody ambiance. It could be a great color for bedrooms, man caves, and garages. Moody colors help you fall asleep faster because of the shadowy vibe it creates on the room.
